This project explores a world in which queerness is the norm and examines its effect on colonial architecture in the Philippines. It uses the fluidity of gender and sexuality to guide the creation of objects and structures, blending multiple uses with distinct visual qualities to offer users a new perspective on how these elements might appear. By combining modern understandings of identity with pre‑colonial Filipino concepts, the work adds an additional layer of personality to the architecture and imagines buildings and objects as alive, each with its own identity. The purpose of this project is to show the beauty of the world where individuality is embraced.
Bathhouses are communal bathing spaces found worldwide. Historically, they also hosted hidden queer encounters that often led to police raids. My design includes a bathhouse that removes shame and encourages freedom of desire.
A shared space featuring highlighted queer memorabilia encourages open discussion. Uplifting stories and historical posters normalise queerness. Formless furniture ensures the area welcomes every body and supports inclusive, adaptable use.
The space offers temporary or long‑term living quarters. Soft fabric enclosures create privacy, while the bedroom design prioritises comfort & allows residents to express their desires through materiality & spatial organisation.
